So I’ve noticed the SX4 has this horrible creaking noise coming from the front right whenever it goes to turn left. This has just started happening but I assumed it was due to the cooler weather. Any idea of what’s causing the sound or if something’s wrong?

Probably a worn out bushing or ball joint. Normal to start happening in cold weather.

Could be a strut hat or bushing.

gonna jump on the bushing bandwagon, with upper strut bearing/bushing being my first guess, but there are many things in there that COULD do it, and for it to get worse on cold weather is pretty normal. You might get lucky and be able to solve it with some silicone spray lube, but you should probably at least check out all the suspension bits on that side, since no one wants a wheel falling off...

Ball joint would usually be more of a clunking noise.

Time to replace your factory rubber bushings with poly ones

On a bump, yes. While turning, it could cause things to shift and twist enough to move all sorts of things in funny directions.

I vote ball joint. A $2 stethoscope from harbour freight should help you find the problem very quickly.

Not necessarily. That depends on whether the joint is loaded or unloaded. An unloaded joint is more likely to clunk, however loaded joints have a proclivity to creak when turning. Ball joints rotate with the knuckle, and as they age and wear they can become rough or rust internally which often contributes to creaking noses when turning.
